Zygomatic Implants Help More Patients Restore Their Oral Health
Zygomatic implants provide patients who lack sufficient upper jawbone tissue for traditional dental implants an alternative solution to successfully replace missing teeth. These unique implant posts are placed on the outside of the sinuses to prevent sinus perforation or sinusitis (sinus infection) in the future. Because these implants are longer than traditional implants, they can integrate with the cheekbones instead of your jawbone alone in order to provide more secure support. As a highly qualified surgeon, Dr. Wade Peers can safely place zygomatic implants at our Park City, UT, practice and can ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible. This life-changing treatment helps patients avoid the additional time and expense required to restore dental implant candidacy through bone grafting and sinus lift procedures.
Are You a Candidate?
The best candidates for zygomatic implants are those who have:
- Weak and recessed upper jaws
- Insufficient bone tissue for traditional implants
- A desire to avoid bone grafting or sinus lift surgery
- Failed to qualify for traditional implants
Our team uses state-of-the-art technology to examine your oral structure. We will create 3-D images of your jaw not only to establish your candidacy, but also to provide Dr. Peers with the necessary information to plan highly precise implant placement surgery. Determining the exact location for your dental implants can ensure a much higher chance for treatment success and longevity.
As a highly qualified surgeon, Dr. Wade Peers can safely place zygomatic implants and can ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible.
Choosing a Surgeon You Can Trust
Having your procedure performed at our advanced, private facility can ensure you receive comprehensive care at the hands of a skilled surgeon who specializes in facial anatomy. Because Dr. Peers is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over 17 years of experience, he can provide safer treatment with less risk of damage for optimal results. He will work with you to design a treatment tailored to your needs, keeping you involved to ensure your comfort and confidence throughout treatment.
Zygomatic Implant Placement
A member of our team will first administer either nitrous oxide or intravenous (IV) sedation. Once you are completely comfortable, Dr. Peers will surgically insert the implants in the predetermined locations through your upper jawbone, securing them into the cheekbone. The placement of zygomatic implants is unique. Typically, you will receive two or more traditional posts at the front of the jaw that are placed vertically. Two implants are then placed at a angle. Because these posts are longer in length, the post will extend into the dense zygomatic bone (cheekbone) rather than just the jawbone.
Recovery from this procedure generally takes about three to four days, after which you can typically resume your normal activities. Your jaw will continue to heal and fuse with the posts over the next four to six months. Once you have fully recovered, you can receive a customized implant-supported denture to restore the aesthetics and function to your smile.
Benefits of Zygomatic Implants
Because zygomatic implants posts are longer and can eliminate the need for a sinus lift, they offer several benefits, including:
- Saved time and money
- Shorter overall treatment recovery time
- Less discomfort
- Fewer appointments and procedures
